Reuters is reporting that Tokyo-based NTT Data Corp. is in exclusive negotiations with Dell to acquire Perot Systems, its IT consulting division. Sources familiar with the deal say differences over the price still exist, with Dell seeking more than $5 billion for the business that it acquired in 2009 for $3.9 billion. Other parties that participated in the auction for Perot Systems include Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. and Atos SE. Dell is looking to sell the business to help reduce the $49.5 billion of debt it will have on its books once it closes its $67 billion acquisition of data storage company EMC Corp. (expected to occur between May and October.)
